The world is getting faster and businesses more than ever need to keep up with the pace to ensure they can predict or quickly react to changing market conditions. An organisation can transform itself in many ways, from changing the company culture for greater management autonomy to updating its image or ideology to remain relevant with its customers. But to complete a transformation successfully, the technology infra-structure has to be right too, because for employees to be able to implement change, they need to be given the necessary tools and analytics to make decisions with confidence and accuracy.
How SAP S/4HANA can help support change
The internationally renowned chocolatier Galler is one such company that is transforming it business processes. With new ownership, updated branding and a change in company culture, a new vision is now in place to take the company into the 21st century. To support its transition however, Galler knew it needed to upgrade its current ERP and chose SAP S/4HANA with its key features to help employees be more productive on a day to day basis. SAP S/4HANA will give real time analytics, working KPIs for every user, better forecasting to ensure production is in align with seasonal demand and improve financial controlling and purchasing with better margin transparency.
Galler however was concerned that such a digital change could potentially cause great disruption to its current business processes, could be too costly and would take a long time to implement. It was therefore vital that these important considerations were taken into account before a plan was put in place to mitigate any concerns.
Updating technology doesn’t have to be disruptive
The approach proposed was focused on a Brownfield migration to SAP S/4HANA to ensure minimal interruptions. This meant Galler could build on its existing SAP environment without re-implementation or disruption to existing processes. It would keep the same environment, same transactions and same processes but would gain functional improvements once S/4HANA was installed. Partnering with SOA People would help keep costs down significantly as it could use its AI and technical screening tools to reduce the cost and time of the migration. In addition to this, the extensive testing on all transactions and processes would be carried out with users directly involved to ensure a smooth and quick transitional system once the project is completed.
SAP S/4HANA is only one part of Galler’s transformation, but it is an important part which will help create a more dynamic and responsive management team and will guarantee better quality decision making for a successful operational system.
