On 27th January SAP announced Rise for SAP which includes the new SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition. The new offering from SAP will deliver more agility, resilience and flexibility as customers respond to changing business conditions and move to the cloud.
Up until this announcement, SAP S/4HANA was available as service or product. The SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition will give customers an additional option within as-a-service, allowing you to convert your existing SAP systems, not possible in the Public Cloud Edition where your only option is a new implementation.
Keeping operational costs low, this single vendor offering will provide all key cloud services under one ERP roof, including hyperscaler infrastructure and operations. It offers many key benefits such as being able to manage your move to the cloud in your own timeframe and maintain your existing SAP landscape.

Full functional scope
This full functional scope solution includes all the country coverage, line of business and industry processes that you need. It also allows for more partner add-ons. This is good news for our customers who are benefitting from our integrated modules such as Credit Management Suite or our Ready-To-Business suite of industry-focused solutions.

Brownfield conversions
SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition is the only cloud option offered by SAP for technical conversions and brownfield migrations. This provides more flexibility for customers who want to move to cloud but who do not want to start a new implementation.

Hyperscaler infrastructure
This Edition is designed to work with hyperscaler infrastructure like Microsoft. There are many benefits in working with a hyperscaler including scalability and best-of-breed quality (SAP data centre is still an option though).

Full Usage Equivalent (FUE) Licensing
Full Usage Equivalent licensing is measured by usage giving you all the benefits of a subscription-based model. It uses a formula to calculate heavy and light users so costs are balanced out more fairly and flexibly.

Freedom of upgrades
Instead of the pressure to compulsorily upgrade systems quarterly or even more often, this Edition puts the control firmly with the customer. You decide how often to upgrade and innovate, thereby better managing the impact on your business processes and organisation. There is a proviso however that you’ll need to upgrade at least within five years to stay in your maintenance support contract.

Modifications allowed
In this Edition you are permitted to modify the SAP code. If it’s imperative to the business to modify the code, then you have this extra ability and flexibility.
