Betafence is a global market leader of integrated perimeter security systems and solutions. It is one of three brands of Praesidiad that specialises in security, defence and protection of people and assets around the world. With 1400 employees and three production sites Belgium-based Betafence provides critical infrastructure and sensitive sites in the public and industrial sectors as well as in the residential market.

The Challenge

Betafence’s SAP system had been installed in around 2007 to support the company’s business needs. As a specialised but now largely ‘legacy’ system the firm was experiencing an increasing number of technical issues; and from the outset the system had lacked architectural guidance and configuration.

With over 400 users in Betafence and additional users in sister brand Guardiar based in USA, the firm was looking for a new SAP support partner that could help it get the most out of the system and reduce costs.

“We tend to have very time-sensitive system requirements. With our manufacturing plant we need to ensure that once loaded our lorries can proceed without any delays, but sometimes technical issues from the system result in problems gaining access at the gates,” says David
